When you drop to one knee, the world tends to blur. You might blackout for a second. You might not remember exactly what you said, or the look on their face when they realised what was happening.
That is why having a Proposal Videographer isn't just "extra content." It is insurance for your memory. It ensures that the split-second reaction—the shock, the tears, the hands-over-the-mouth—is preserved forever.
At Dolce Vita Films, we are experts in the art of the Secret Shoot. We know how to hide in the bushes at Bradley’s Head. We know how to blend in with the tourists at the Trevi Fountain. We capture the moment without ruining the surprise.
THE SECRET MISSION
How We Stay Hidden
The biggest fear every proposer has is: "What if they see the camera and guess?" We have perfected the stealth mode. Depending on your location and vibe, we use one of three strategies:
The Tourist
We pretend to be tourists taking photos of the scenery (or each other) until the moment happens.
The Hiding Spot
We use long zoom lenses so we can be 50 metres away in the bushes or down the beach.
The Decoy
If you want, we can pretend to be doing a "couple’s shoot" for a portfolio building session, and then you surprise them mid-shoot.
ENGAGEMENT & LOVE STORIES
The "Just Engaged" Session
So, they said yes. The adrenaline is fading, and now you are just buzzing.
The Engagement Session (or Pre-Wedding Shoot)
Most people skip this, and we think that is a mistake. On your wedding day, you are in a timeline. You have a dress that weighs 10kg. You have grandma watching you. The pressure is on.
An Engagement Shoot is the opposite.
No Pressure: Wear jeans. Wear sunglasses. Run into the ocean.
No Audience: It’s just us and you.
The Practice: If you are nervous about being filmed on your wedding day, this is the rehearsal. You learn how we work. You learn that we don't do cheesy prom poses. By the time the wedding comes, you are pros.
The "Love Story" Film
We can take this a step further. We sit you down (separately or together) and interview you.
"How did you meet?"
"When did you know they were the one?"
We overlay this audio with the footage of you hanging out. The result is a short, incredibly emotional film that tells your origin story.
Pro Tip: Play this film on the big screen at your reception just before your entrance. It hypes the room up and leaves not a dry eye in the house.

Wendy’s Secret Garden: Lush, private, harbour views.
Observatory Hill: Iconic, sunset vibes.
The Blue Mountains: Epic cliff edges (be careful!).
Private Boat: Hire a water taxi or a private yacht for an hour on the Harbour. We can pretend to be the "crew."
Italy Hotspots
Lake Como: A private boat tour. The captain cuts the engine in front of Villa del Balbianello. That’s your moment.
Positano: On a balcony overlooking the vertical city.
The Dolomites: The wooden boats on the alpine lake. It looks like a movie set.

How do I mic myself up without them knowing?
This is the tricky part. If we are hiding in bushes, we rely on our shotgun microphones, which are good but might catch wind noise. If you want crystal clear audio of your speech, we can give you a tiny, discreet recorder to slip into your pocket before you leave the house. You just press "record" before you kneel.
Can you help me plan the logistics?
Yes. We are basically proposal consultants. We know exactly where the sun sets at different times of the year. We know which spots have construction work going on. We can help you pick the exact "X marks the spot."
Do you travel for proposals?
Absolutely. If you are planning a weekend away in the Hunter Valley or Byron Bay, we can be there. If you are planning a trip to Europe, check our travel dates. We might already be in Italy!
What if she says no?
(Touch wood). It has never happened to us yet. But if it does... we delete the footage, buy you a beer, and never speak of it again. That is our promise.
